You can use ethanol in standard gasoline engines with a simple piggyback system that adjusts the injector open duration based on the alcohol blend, or opt for a flex-fuel engine.
Notably, CO2 emissions are drastically reduced, NOx emissions are nearly eliminated, and the exhaust consists mostly of water vapor.
Ethanol burns at a lower temperature and has a high octane rating. Furthermore, if ethanol is produced from sources like grass, the CO2 turnaround cycle is very short.
